This week in Year 4 we started planning our independent writing following the structure of our text Aladdin. I was so impressed with the creative ideas the children came up with and the way they planned independently to include all the different features of writing we have been learning this term. I am looking forward to reading the finished products next week! We are also planning to share our stories with Year 3 this term and it will be exciting to have an audience to write for. In maths we have been practicing our 9, 11 and 12 times-tables. We learned that we can use our knowledge of the 10 and 2 times tables to help us solve our 12 times tables. We then moved on to multiplying 2 digit numbers by 1 digit numbers using numicon to help us.
In science this week we learned about different engineers and the jobs they do, as the school is involved in the Primary Engineer Leaders Award. Next week, we are fortunate to have Elliot’s Dad (who is a mechanical engineer) joining us to tell us all about what he does, we thought of many different questions to ask him. In PSHE we reminded ourselves of the dream/goal we wrote on our clouds during our first week back after Christmas, and thought of three steps we could take to reach our goal/dream even when it might be really tough to keep on going.
I hope you have all had a great day in the snow and I hope you enjoy the rest of your long weekend.
See you on Monday.
