It’s been a busy, but brilliant first week back!
In our English lessons we have started work a new book called ‘The True Story of the Three Little Pigs’. We began by considering what ‘the true story’ might be, and lots of interesting predictions were shared. We will have to wait for a couple of weeks to find out what ‘the true story’ is, and whether any of our predictions are correct! We have started to write our opening for this alternative version of the story; I think a favourite sentence all-round was when we had to write about the delicious cakes that the Grandma wolf enjoys eating!
In maths we are continuing with our work on multiplication and division, focusing on the 3, 4 and 8 times tables. We have been thinking about the other number sentences we could link to ones that we know; for example, if we know that 5×4=20, we also know that 4×5=20, 20 ÷ 5=4, and 20 ÷ 4=5.
We have started a new topic in Geography, and this week we began to learn about the first part of that topic – Mountains! We used Mt. Everest as our focus and began to learn about the features of mountains. We also used Google Earth and different maps to locate Mt. Everest.
The children really enjoyed being introduced to the reflection trail this week! They really liked having the opportunity to reflect in different ways and they shared lots of thoughtful ideas as we stopped at each section.
