We finally enjoyed our rearranged World Book Day assembly this morning. Again this year, we were really impressed with how much effort had gone into the costumes. I was particularly impressed with the wide range of books chosen- everything from classics to picture books, fiction and non-fiction, comics and graphic novels. I think this really shows how adventurous our children are in their reading choices. This is because World book Day is not the only day that we celebrate books. Our children are encouraged to read widely for pleasure, finding new authors and illustrators to enjoy.
Every child will come home today with a £1 book token, which can be swapped for one of the official World Book Day books, or can be put towards a different book of a higher price. Please do use the tokens! You can find out more about the £1 books here.
The staff judged the costumes and have awarded a prize for our favourites from each class. Our winners were:
Foundation Stage: Fin
Year 1: Elliot
Year 2: Jesse
Year 3: Cecily
Year 4: Zach
Year 5: Sophie
Year 6: Rose
Congratulations to everyone- it was wonderful to celebrate books with you!
