Get Set Mascot Challenge-designing a mascot for Paralympics GB-Appleton in the national top 20!30/10/2020
Please see some exciting news from Get Set: Did you win our Mascot Challenge? Winner, runner up and top 20 finalists revealed! Thank you to everyone who entered the Get Set Mascot Challenge by designing a mascot for ParalympicsGB. We had over 600 entries into the competition and were overwhelmed by the amazing creativity and quality of the designs, so congratulations to everyone who took part! Our top 20 designs were selected by our judging panel, including art teachers, designers and members of the ParalympicsGB and Team GB team. The panel looked at every entries' design, mascot name and story to help with the very difficult job of narrowing down the entries to pick their favourites. These top designs were then sent to a team of ParalympicsGB athletes for the (even harder) job of picking one overall winner and first place runner up. We are absolutely thrilled to announce that Jack and Sylvie, who were part of our Year 6 class when they entered the competition, are part of the top 20 finalists! Congratulations, your designs, alongside our other top 20 finalists, will be on display in the ParalympicsGB’s Team Base at next year’s Tokyo Games! In addition to being displayed at ParalympicsGB's Team Base in the athlete village at Tokyo 2020 (now scheduled to be held next summer), all the finalists have also won an exclusive Get Set badge. Take a look at their fantastic designs here: getset_mascotchallenge_finalists.pdf On Friday 8.11.19 some of the year 5/6 boys attended a football competition at Oxford City Football Club. The boys played really well and were knocked out in the quarter final. I was very impressed with how well they performed as well as their positive attitude on the day. Many thanks to Mrs Hawkins and Miss Evans for their help with transport and their support on the day. There will be a match report to follow. Mrs Ballard.
Report written by Jenelle, Jesse, Amar and Sean.
A group of Appleton children from Years 3 and 4 attended a tag rugby festival at Cumnor School. It was very wet but fun! There were four schools that took part. The boys played three matches and the girls played one match. The boys won one of their matches 3-0. A big thank you to Miss Leggett for taking us even though it was raining! On Thursday 27th of June some year 3/4 children took part in a Premier Stars Football Tournament at OCFC. The report is to follow and a great day was had by all. Thanks to Mr Hawkins who came as a parent helper.
Thank you to the Year 6 leaders who helped to organise and lead the Interhouse Athletics Field Events competition with lower KS2 today. Take a look at some of the photos: |
