How to start a conversation with your child about mental health

imoves are a resource we use lots in school. They are doing free log ins for parents so set up a log in, then visit the mental well-being tab. They have some really nice mediation activities and exercise activities, just remember to check you are selecting an age appropriate activity, they have the age bands at the top of each video.

Emoji mirrors- Ask your child to look in a mirror. Can they pull a happy face? Sad face? Cross face? Tired face? Angry face? Surprised face? Explain that it is ok to feel all of these feelings and it is always good to talk to someone, especially if they feel angry or sad as we are always there to listen.
Listen to your favourite music. How does it make you feel? Does your adult have a favourite song? Enjoy listening to them together. Have a dance if you want to.
Emotions game- Ask an adult to pull some different emotional faces for you (happy, sad, angry, lonely etc) see if you can guess how they are feeling? Can you do the same for them to guess?
