In English this week the children have worked really hard on writing out their final copies of the explanation text that they have written. They have all shown Must-do Mole and Steadfast Squirrel attitudes by not only putting a lot of care and effort into the presentation of their work but also by keeping going with their writing!
This week in maths we have started our work on Money. We have learnt how to convert pounds into pence and we have also learnt some different strategies for adding 2 amounts of money together. We found it really useful to use the column method to add the amounts of money and I was impressed with how well the children had remembered it! Next week we will be focusing on subtracting one amount of money from another and giving change. In our dance lessons this week we have finished working on our group performances and some groups had the chance to show the rest of the class (the other groups will do this next week). Our lessons this term have been focused on telling a story through dance and we have used some dramatic music, by the composer Ludovico Einaudi, to bring our final dance pieces to life! We have also really enjoyed watching video clips from the BBC show The Greatest Dancer as we change for PE – lots of children have found this inspiring! In Jigsaw this week the children have just about finished making their junk modelling projects– we have had some great designs ranging from a brightly coloured bird feeder to a dolphin water fountain! This week’s spellings have been set on Spelling Shed; we will have a short test on Tuesday next week. Spelling Rule: Homophones –words which have the same pronunciation but different meanings and/or spellings. grate great grown groan main mane meat meet missed mist
