It has been a brilliant first week back in Year 3! I have really enjoyed getting to know the class and they have settled really well into the school routines.
Over the past week and a half our work has been focused on ‘Here We Are’ by Oliver Jeffers. We have explored lots of brilliant topics form the wonderful world around us to the people and places that are special to us. The children have particularly enjoyed using the water colours to paint the skyline; they did a fantastic job of this and I was really pleased with how carefully they thought about the colours and details they needed to include. We also had fun writing new verses to the song ‘What a Wonderful World’ by Louis Armstrong; I was really impressed with the thoughtful ideas that the children shared! In our Jigsaw PSHE lesson this week we focused on how we are all unique. We shared the things that interest us, such as our hobbies, favourite animals and favourite foods and then we also thought about the things that we had in common with each other. Finally, we thought about some of the things that we would like to achieve in Year 3. In our PE lessons this term we are focusing on developing our balance, coordination and agility as well as trying to improve our fitness in circuits activities. We had lots of fun creating balances linked to our favourite sports and the children tried really hard in our relay races!
