The children have all had a good week back after the half term holiday.
In English we have been continuing our sentence stacking for the animation Feast: we've enjoyed a couple of experience days and have been working on fronted adverbials and relative clauses. We've also practised our handwriting with a Bonfire Night poem with an important message about keeping pets safe. We have also been thinking about Remembrance, making our poppies for the whole school display at the church and in our virtual Key Stage Collective Worship led by Miss Sutton. We are very fortunate to have Mrs Mills teaching our music lessons this term and the children got off to have a fantastic start learning an anti-bullying rap. In maths we've been continuing to work on addition and subtraction, building up to subtracting 4-digit numbers with one or more exchange. The children have also been enjoying using Kenkens to practise their mental arithmetic and agility. In PE we have completed our interhouse basketball tournament. Our PSHE theme for the term is Celebrating Difference and the children found themselves thinking about challenging stereotypes in our lesson this afternoon. Homework is as usual to practise timestables, spellings and reading. Our spellings this week have the suffix -ation added to verbs to create a noun. We learned the rules for if the verb finishes with an e or y - see if your child can remember what they are! information sensation preparation vibration decoration donation duration registration population determination Hope you all have a good weekend.
