Dear parents and carers,
In our English lessons this week we have been using the book Wabi Sabi to explore some aspects of Japanese culture, including the special type of poetry called haiku. The children have explored what wabi sabi means through the book, and have been thinking about things which are ordinary and special at the same time. They are also in the middle of writing their own haikus, which we will be finishing next week. In maths this week the children have been learning about temperature. We have used thermometers to measure the temperature in different places around the classroom, and worked hard on reading the scales. Next week we will be looking at some different mathematical investigations, including doubling and halving, and pattern-building. On Friday we really enjoyed our trip to the Winchester Science Centre with year 5. See the separate post for photos of our amazing day. Mrs B Three things to ask your child this week:
