Dear parents and carers,
The children are particularly enjoying #30DaysWild this week. On Thursday we were thrilled to receive our own school copy of The Lost Words, by Robert Macfarlane and Jackie Morris, which the children are enjoying sharing together. They have also run around on the back field in the bare feet, feeling the different temperatures and surfaces. We've also enjoyed identifying moths, trapped by Emily and her family, including a spectacular elephant hawk moth. Next week we'll be continuing with this, including doing our own moth trapping! In English this week we have been learning about writing formal letters. The children have thought about the things that they liked about Perfect, and have been writing the first draft of our letters to Nicola Davies. We'll be continuing with this next week, including writing the letters up to be sent off to Nicola. In our maths lessons we have been working on vocabulary around measuring mass, by using the balance scales. the children have explored more, less and equal in this context, as well as ordering weights. We've extended this into starting to measure the weight of different objects around the classroom. Next week we'll be finishing this off before moving on to volume and capacity. For homework, it would be wonderful if the children could do some practical weighing at home, including g and kg. Perhaps you could do some baking, or look at how much some of your household goods weigh? Mrs B Three things to ask your child this week:
