This week has been another busy week in Thames Class. In English we have been busy brushing up our story writing skills by writing the ending of Hansel and Gretel. On Monday we worked in small groups to edit and improve our writing before writing out final version in some of our other English lessons this week. Here are a few of the completed stories so far. On Tuesday and Wednesday we took part virtually in the Injury Minimisation Programme for Schools (I.M.P.S). We learnt some skills and strategies for dealing with an unconscious person, how to avoid accidents and some basic first aid including the recovery position and CPR. In Maths this week we have focused main on dividing 4-digit numbers by 1 or 2-digit numbers using the formal written method of short division. On Friday we revisited factors and we each had to make a poster to show the factor pairs of a number we were given. We had to show the factor pairs using number sentences, arrays and a rainbow factor. This week in Science we investigated how light enables us to see colour. To do this we looked through coloured filters at objects the same colour as the filter and then objects a different colour to the filter. We discovered that is we look at an object the same colour as a filter its still looks the same colour. But if we look at an object that is a different colour to the filter it looks black. We then used this knowledge to write a secret message that is only visible when you look through a coloured filter.
