In Science this week we have been learning about refraction. In groups we carried out four mini investigations to find out what happens to light rays as they travel through different materials. These investigations involves bending pencils, pouring light, hiding coins and bending light! In our groups we drew diagrams of what we observed and tried to explain what happened. You can see the children's diagrams here: We discovered that light waves travel at a different speed when they go through other transparent materials, such as water or glass. This causes the rays of light to change direction and bend and this is known as refraction.
