In Cole Class we have been lucky enough to have use of a moth trap for the past few weeks. We've put it out a few times and been foiled by the weather, but yesterday we thought the forecast looked good, and went for it! We were thrilled to find the trap full of moths this morning- most were small and flew away straight away, but we found some really lovely specimens too. The one at the top is a buff tip, which looks just like a little stick! The bottom left is a buff ermine, which is really furry. The bottom right was difficult to identify, but we think that it's a small emerald.
We'd like to say a big thank you to Barbara, who lent us the moth trap and allowed us to get close to these amazing insects.
