Welcome back to a new term in Foundation, I hope you all had a lovely Christmas break. The children were very excited to discover our topic this term is 'Dinosaurs' and have already helped me to make a big dinosaur for our classroom.
We have started our work on "Harry and his bucketful of dinosaurs go to school" and the children have been very inspired with lots of them acting out parts of the story or making their own books during our free flow time. Maths has focused on counting and recognising numbers to 20 to recap what we have remembered and picking up where we left off. During our phonics sessions we have been busy recapping the sounds we have previously learned and getting ready to start in new groups next week. We started our new Jigsaw topic for the term and have begun work on our "dreams and goals". We focused on overcoming challenges and the children were great at overcoming Mrs Smith's challenging obstacle course by working in teams. Finally 3 things you can ask your child this week:- - How many dinosaurs can they name? - Can they count backwards from 20? - What words do they know that start with 'z'? Hope you have a lovely weekend, Kayleigh Ballard
