As we were unable to take part in our annual Sports Evening this year due to Lockdown, we continued with our physical activity at home. We took part in National School Sports Week where there were lots of different challenges to try which were organised by the Youth Sport Trust and Sky Sports. Children and families across the country took part and it was great to see so many of our school community getting involved. Well done to each and every one of you for showing excellent commitment to being physically active and supporting our work as an Active School. Take a look at some of the photos from the challenges:
Today we took part in some sports races on our running track. It was great to have a try at some of the races that we would usually have done at our annual Sports Evening. Thank you to Lyla who was our class photographer for these events.
Our National School Sports Week Challenge for today was Fast Feet. We had to dribble a ball around a cone as many times as we could in 60 seconds. Take a look at how we got on:
Today Pod 1a had a go at the Swipe and Swap Challenge from National School Sport Week. We had to move objects from one cone to the other just by using our feet. We thought that this challenge was lots of fun!
Today we took part in the Cool Catcher and the Race Across the River challenges. Take a look at how we got on.
On Thursday 5th March girls from Year 5 and 6 took part in the Vale Football Tournament at Chandlings Prep School. Despite the cold and very wet conditions the girls played brilliantly in all four of their matches, showing great determination and team spirit. A big well done to all the girls who took part!

On Thursday 6th February we went to King Alfred's to attend an athletics competition. Eight schools took part including Appleton. At the event there were many activities; standing long jump, triple jump, vertical jump, chest push and javelin are the field events. The track/running events are: 1 by 1, 2 by 2, 4 by 1 relay, paarluaf, the over under relay and obstacle relay. Out of the 8 schools we place 2nd. We were proud to come in a high position and were awarded with certificates.

On the 12th December we went to the New Theatre in Oxford to perform at the Oxfordshire Dance Festival. Our theme was Aladdin and the song we danced to was 'Friend Like Me'. There were 34 schools taking part including us. We got to watch some other schools perform and most of us had our make up done too! It was really fun and we had a great time.
