It was great to have Danny Taylor in school with us this week to lead Archery sessions with Year 1 Evenlode Class and also for staff training. Danny is 7 times National Champion in Archery and it was great to learn from a true expert. We are looking forward to Danny coming back into school over the next few weeks to lead sessions with Years 2-6. Take a look at some of the photos from the Year 1 session and the staff training.

I am delighted to announce that Appleton CE Primary School have been awarded the Gold standard for our Healthy Schools rating for 2019-2020!
This takes into account the feedback from the Active Lives Survey that Y2,4 and 6 were chosen to do during lockdown and also the work that we do as a school on healthy eating, well-being and physical activity, so a big thank you to everyone who contributed and to Miss Leggett for leading on this key area. healthy_schools_rating_scheme_2019-2020_gold.pdf Drum roll please.....we have the announcement for the winning House Team for the Appleton Sports Shield for 2019/2020. We have added up the points from all of our Interhouse Competitions throughout the year and the winners are...St Giles Green Team! As we were unable to take part in our annual Sports Evening this year due to Lockdown, we continued with our physical activity at home. We took part in National School Sports Week where there were lots of different challenges to try which were organised by the Youth Sport Trust and Sky Sports. Children and families across the country took part and it was great to see so many of our school community getting involved. Well done to each and every one of you for showing excellent commitment to being physically active and supporting our work as an Active School. Take a look at some of the photos from the challenges:
Today we took part in some sports races on our running track. It was great to have a try at some of the races that we would usually have done at our annual Sports Evening. Thank you to Lyla who was our class photographer for these events.
Our National School Sports Week Challenge for today was Fast Feet. We had to dribble a ball around a cone as many times as we could in 60 seconds. Take a look at how we got on:
Today Pod 1a had a go at the Swipe and Swap Challenge from National School Sport Week. We had to move objects from one cone to the other just by using our feet. We thought that this challenge was lots of fun!
