Foundation Stage Weekly Update

We have had another busy week in Foundation. The children really enjoyed our science day on Wednesday and really enjoyed being with their house teams to learn lots of exciting things. I was also very impressed with the science homework, it was very hard to pick a winner so congratulations to Grace.

Our phonics this week has been recapping sounds we have previously learned and applying them to our reading. The children are really improving their reading so thank you for practicing with them at home.

We have continued our work on “The Three Little Pigs” in literacy and we have carried on thinking about  what we can notice in the picture. The children have been really good at describing what they can see.

Maths has seen us focus on adding 2 numbers together to make 10 and recognising numbers to 20. The children were very impressive when thinking about adding 2 numbers together.

We had a very windy but great PE session today and the children enjoyed having a go at throwing and catching with a partner. Please come and see some pictures of our PE in our classroom.

Finally 3 things to ask your child this week:-

  • What was their favourite part of our science day?
  • Can they remember the 3 different activities we did in PE?
  • Do they know what the word “Snarled” means?

As always if you have any questions then please come and see me.

Many Thanks,

Kayleigh Ballard
