Battles on the Beach – learning about the siege of Troy

In English we have enjoyed learning about the legend of Troy.  The story began when Prince Paris had to choose the most beautiful of three goddesses; his reward for choosing Aphrodite was the love of Helen of Greece, who sailed away with him to become Helen of Troy.  The Greeks, including the almost invincible hero Achilles, set sail in an armada of 1000 ships to recover Helen.  However when they arrived on the beaches of Troy, they were met in battle by the Trojans, led by their mightiest warrior, Prince Hector.  The battle lasted over ten years with neither side claiming victory.  After describing the characters of arch-enemies Hector and Achilles, we used counter balances and still images to enact scenes from the evenly-matched battle.
