Autumn 2 – Week 6

At the start of the week, we enjoyed a wonderful performance of Dick Whittington at Oxford Playhouse. The flossing cat was our overall favorite character and Eleanor even made it onto the stage to give the cat a high five.

This morning we were lucky enough to be invited to watch the KS1 Christmas play where we learned how different Christian countries celebrate Christmas. We are exploring Christmas in Australia in Year 4, as the author of our literacy text (The Lost Thing), Shaun Tan is Australian. We discovered that Christmas is in the middle of summer in Australia and they have a barbeque on the beach on Christmas Day!

In PE the inter-house basketball took off and there were some very competitive matches showing excellent teamwork skills.

The overall highlight for us this week was our independent writing pieces all about the wonderful lost things we created last week (see pictures on the last update). Everyone received a steadfast squirrel for extremely hard work and the stories all included features that we have been learning about this term, which was a joy to see and mark. Some even included ideas from our Ancient Egyptian topic too!
