Back in November we were given the opportunity to run an Antarctic flag design competition as part of the Antarctica Day 2017 celebrations. The winning design from each class was sent with a real scientist to Antarctica, where they were photographed. Our scientist is called Stefano, and he is is part of the Spanish Polar Network. He is an early career scientist who volunteered to take part in this outreach activity to help people learn more about the polar regions. Stefano specialises in researching sea creatures in the Weddell Sea, and the flags travelled with him to the Rey Juan Carlos I Base in Antarctica.
Congratulations to our winners: John (year 6), Melis (year 5), George (year 2), Lilou (year 1) and Louis (year 1).
