This week we have been taking part in Maths Week England 2024 which is focused on the theme 'Can we solve it?' There has been a real buzz around school with everyone stepping up to the challenge to solve problems across the maths curriculum. Milestone Infrastructure Roadshow Competition 2024 7th Nov 2024

In the Summer Term, the Milestone Infrastructure Roadshow team came into school to provide a range of activities for our Year 1 and Year 2 children to learn more about staying safe around roads and the important work that the team does to keep us and our roads safe. As part of this visit, there was a competition for children to design their own road sign to help others to stay safe when out on the roads. It was incredibly exciting this week when the team came in to announce the winners of the competition. The winners had their designs made into real road signs which will be displayed near school and were given a book token each. Congratulations to our winning designers and a huge thank you to the Milestone team for giving us this fantastic opportunity.

Remembrance 2024 7th Nov 2024

As part of our work on Remembrance this year, each pupil created their own piece of poppy art work which is on display at St Laurence Church. The children took great care and pride in their work and were able to reflect on why the poppy is an important symbol of remembrance. The display will be up in church until Friday 29th November so please do go and take a look.

Year 1+ 2 Milestone Infrastructure Roadshow 28th May 2024

A huge thank you to the team from the Milestone Infrastructure Roadshow who came into school to provide a range of activities for our Year 1 and Year 2 children to learn more about staying safe around roads. It was interesting to hear all about the work that is done to maintain our roads and the types of vehicles that are used to do that. A real highlight was being able to see some of these vehicles up close including a gully cleaner and a dragon patcher. There were lots of interesting questions asked by the children about pot holes too!

Year 2 Galapagos Islands Booklets 28th Mar 2024

There was great excitement this term as part of our Geography unit of work focused on comparing the UK with the Galapagos Islands. We created a fact file focusing on the location of the Galapagos Islands, how they were formed, what the climate is like and what wildlife can be found there. We learnt about Charles Darwin and Sir David Attenborough's work focusing on the wildlife of the islands. We used our fact files to create our own non-fiction booklets to tell everyone important facts about the islands.

To conclude our unit of work on Nature Art, we focused on the artist Andy Goldsworthy and learnt about the land art that he creates. We then worked in small groups on the back field to create our own land art in the style of Andy Goldsworthy.

In PE this term, we have focused on gymnastics. We explored balancing, travelling and jumping both with and without the gymnastic apparatus.
