U11 Girls National League Football Tournament-first round

On the 2nd of February year 5 and 6 competed in the 5 a side national league girl’s football tournament. The girls played exceptionally well and had to play seven matches to get into the final.

They won 5 and drew 2 matches. We were relieved to get into the final! The match was extremely tight and at the end of the 12 minutes it was 0-0. So they added an extra 3 minutes on, each team was desperate to have a goal, but still the result was tied. This meant the dreaded penalties!

Anna was up first and scored an amazing goal that soared past the keeper. The rival shot and was saved by Anna. Hana was up next and scored another incredible goal for Appleton! The pressure was on. If the next girl up would fail to score we would win! She shot and…MISSED!

We had won! By the end of the competition Anna had scored a total of 14 goals whilst Frida had 4 and Hana 3! A big well done to Year 5 and Year 6 for participating and we wish them good luck in the next round.
