Today Cole Class walked through the village to the War Memorial. We talked about why the war memorial was positioned there, what it meant and why it was very important to us. We talked about how it is important to remember the people who fought so bravely in the two world wars, as well as thinking about the hard work of all of our armed forces. The children were very thoughtful and made some very sensible and sensitive comments. Finding out about how the wars have affected the local area and people is an important part of our history curriculum.
We are making a paper poppy wreath in class, which will be taken to the memorial on Friday by Mrs Carnell.
