RE: Comparing the usual ‘Christmas card’ view of Christmas story and the biblical version

We read the Christmas story in the Gospel of Matthew and the Gospel of Luke and discovered that the Christmas story we know is combined from both versions. We then looked at Christmas card images and compared them to the story. Some interesting things we noticed were: the cross was visible in several images which wouldn’t be important to Jesus till he was older, many images have very European, snowy weather unlike the biblical version, there was a church visible before Christians existed, there were lots of animals in the images not mentioned in the gospels and many images were the two gospels stories combined.
